Stirling Castle has thousands of years of history worth exploring in its endless chapels, vaults, museums, and exhibitions. Whether you want to browse the carefully recreated James V’s Palace, which is one of the best-preserved Renaissance buildings in Great Britain, or take in the prized tapestries of the Queen’s Inner Hall, “there’s much to see” is an understatement. The castle also has stunning botanic gardens and sweeping vistas of the Scottish countryside, so be sure to schedule time outside of the castle walls. Just below the castle, the Old Town is a quaint and small city with a medley of shops and restaurants.
