Climate & Beaches
Climate
St. Croix has beautiful and stable weather year-round, with temperatures averaging around 82 degrees F. Occasional rainstorms predominately happen at night and don’t interfere with beach days.
Beaches
Buck Island, which was declared a national monument, has an underwater snorkeling trail and pristine white sand beaches. Sandy Point is largely home to nesting turtles and birds and a quiet, pretty stretch of beach, and Isaac Bay is secluded and great for swimming. While Rainbow beach is a good option for people-watching, it does have rocky waters to be aware of.
Activities & Attractions
Activities
There are plenty of watersports to try on the island, including kayaking, private sailing charters, scuba diving. Buck Island is a popular half or full-day trip, as this national park is surrounded by a beautiful coral barrier reef. A favorite St. Croix tradition is to take the Cruzan Rum tour, where you can happily sample your way through this best-selling distillery. For a historic activity, the St. Croix Heritage Trail is a self-guided tour through the island’s historic sites and natural areas. Island-hopping is also a popular activity since St. Croix is so close to St. Thomas and St. John.
