Lana’i experiences fairly consistent weather, though local micro-climates are wide-varying. During summer (May to October), the average temperature is 85 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average winter temperature is 78 degrees F.
Beaches
Lana'i has 18 miles of shoreline with a handful of beautiful beaches. Hulopoe Beach is one of the islands most popular, with stunning vistas of Sweetheart Rock and great tidal pools for snorkeling. For total seclusion and intimacy, North Lana'i beaches like Polihua are great for sunbathing with pristine white sand. Shipwreck beach is also on the north side and named for its notable World War II wreck that juts from the waters just offshore.

In North Lana'i, the Garden of the Gods has a mysterious, lunar topography steeped in folklore and heaving with boulders and rock formations. In Hulopoe Bay, experienced scuba divers can try the Lana'i Cathedrals, which are massive underwater lava tubes that look like a stained-glass church. For lovers, Sweetheart Rock tells the tale of two Hawaiian paramours and is one of Lanai’s most famous icons. From December to May, the island is also home to incredible humpback whales which migrate over 3,000 miles of ocean. Lana’i is also a golf mecca, with two championship courses set against its dramatic coastline.
