Climate & Beaches
Climate
Daytime temperatures in Antigua are fairly consistent, ranging from 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall is relatively low compared to other Caribbean islands and the driest months are between November and April.
Beaches
With 365 beaches to choose from, Antigua’s coastline offers seemingly endless variety. Valley Church Beach in Jolly Harbour has soft white sand and calm, bright waters. Hell’s Gate requires a short (and admittedly claustrophobic) hike to the beach, but it’s worth the sacrifice to see where the Caribbean and Atlantic waters meet. Darkwood beach is close to a local lagoon that’s great for wildlife sightings.
Activities & Attractions
Activities
Prickly Pear Island is a fun excursion where travelers can sample West Indian food to their hearts content-including lobster, conch, and great fresh fish. As one of the world’s premier sailing destinations, a private yacht cruise along the island’s many deserted beaches is a great way to see the landscape. Looking for adventure (and too immerse yourself in the natural surroundings)? Zip lining through the local rainforest will get you right up close to beautiful, colorful birds. On the water, wind surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing are all popular water sports.
