Language
The official language is Dutch, although both Spanish and English are also widely spoken. Papiamento, a local patois of mixed Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch is also spoken and other local languages are also spoken in the Leeward group of islands.

The official currency is the Antillean guilder, though US dollars are widely accepted.

Climate
The Antilles enjoy a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 76 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit year round. The Windward Islands are subject to hurricanes in the summer months, while the Leeward Islands are warmer and drier.
Beaches
St. Martin has beyond beautiful beaches. Mullet Bay, Orient Bay and Maho Beach are the most popular places for watersport enthusiasts, while Playa Cas Abou is known for its tourist-friendly spots. Almost all of Curacao’s beaches are scattered along its southwestern coast, with sugary white sand and gentle surf. Kenepa Beach in Willemstad has bright turquoise water which serves as a breathtaking wedding backdrop.

From snorkeling and scuba diving to sunbathing and hiking, there's plenty to do in Antilles. In St. Martin, it’s difficult to resist the great buys, whether you want to bargain at an open-air market or browse the expensive boutiques in Marigot. Curacao has the Hato Caves, an elaborate network of stalactites and stalagmites with drawings dating back 1,500 years. If you’re an experienced diver, Mushroom Forest is a star coral underwater jungle. The islands also hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, so be sure to check if your travels coincide with Jazz Fest or the ever-popular Carnival.
